Zurcher FordSCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Saturday afternoon cruises at the busy McDonald's on Indian Bend Road here attract dozens of special vehicles and hundreds of spectators.

Called the "longest ongoing cruise," the informal gathering brings owners of everything from 80-year-old Fords to brand-new Mustangs. On a recent sunny Saturday, most of the special vehicles appeared to be from the 1950s to the 1970s.

One exhibitor, Lee Selleck of Phoenix, wanted to talk about his 1972 "Cuda" 340, a deep black coupe from Port Angelus, Wash., he bought for $25,000 through eBay. In excellent condition, it was everything he expected, he said.

Beside him, Stefan Zurcher talked with a visitor about his yellow 1937 Ford roadster kit car with its 5.7-liter 350-CID engine. Zurcher runs Z Streetrods in Phoenix, where he does customizing and auto repairs.

It was close to dinner time when an older gentleman glided quietly to a parking spot in a vintage Packard. It belonged to a friend, he said, and he wasn't certain of its model year. A badge on the two-tone brown sedan with three-part grille read OneTwenty. Our best guess: a 1941.
