Modern enthusiasts are collecting American muscle cars in a big way. Judging by current sales of cheap, used muscle car parts there's a lot of demand in the market right now. What's funny is that at the time, the term muscle car was not even used when these cars began hitting the martket; instead they were referred to as supercars. This was probably because of the Super Stock drag racing terminology of the day. Dodge had Super Stocks, Chevy had the Super Sport and Plymouth had the Superbird. Therefore, the term supercar was a natural. That has since evolved to the contemporary use of muscle cars.
After 1982, genuine American muscle cars began returning to the market.
